TWO businessmen have successfully completed a challenging 100-kilometre trek across the world’s largest hot desert.
Raising more than £11,700 in memory of two young lives lost far too soon were managing directors Wayne Southall, of Upton’s Skippy Pink Skip Hire, and Paul Harris, of Kempsey Autos.
Wayne undertook the Sahara Desert trek in North Africa in memory of his daughter Holly who died aged just 10 years old.
Paul joined the challenge to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity in memory of his granddaughter Harlow Marston who died at only three weeks and four days old.

Wayne said the experience was “one of the toughest things” he has ever done but the cause gave him the strength to keep going.
“Every step was for Holly and Harlow,” he said.
“Knowing we were doing this to support such an incredible charity made it all worthwhile.”

Wayne and Paul said: “We would like to thank everyone who has donated and backed us on this journey.
“The support has meant everything to us.”
The duo completed the physically demanding trek over four days in extreme desert conditions at the end of last month.
Battling intense heat, vast dunes and long daily distances, the pair pushed themselves to their limits, covering 100km across one of the world’s harshest environments.
The challenge was not only a test of endurance but a deeply personal mission.
Their shared determination and resilience carried them through the demanding journey.
Funds raised from the challenge will go towards supporting the vital work of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity which provides life-saving treatment and care for seriously ill children and their families.

The achievement has already drawn praise from the community with supporters commending both men for their commitment, courage and dedication to raising awareness and funds for such an important cause.
Donations are still being welcomed as the pair continue their efforts to honour Holly’s and Harlow’s memories while supporting children and families in need.
