Care home celebrates nurses on special day of recognition

Nurses were celebrated for their dedication on a special day of celebration.

Rashwood care home in Droitwich marked International Nurses Day on May 12 with gifts and messages of thanks for its team.

Part of the Elizabeth Finn Homes group, the home recognised the contributions of both its current nurses and residents who are retired from the profession during the special day, which is celebrated globally on Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

It honours the contribution of nurses to society and raises awareness of the challenges faced by the profession.

In the UK, more than 850,000 nurses, midwives, and nursing associates are registered to practise across care homes, hospitals, schools, and the wider community.

Helen Grice, head of operations at Elizabeth Finn Homes, visited Rashwood with cards and gift hampers to say thank you.

She said: “It was an absolute pleasure to thank our nursing teams and a great opportunity for them to take time out from their busy day and know that they are much appreciated.

“Of equal importance are former nurses whose service is not forgotten.”

Nursing is central to the care provided at Rashwood, with registered nurses available 24 hours a day to deliver person-centred care and daily support.

The home, which is rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and scores 9.7 out of 10 on carehome.co.uk, offers 53 rooms for both residential and nursing care, on a long-term or short stay basis.
