How to get Amazon goods half price as popular deals return from September 1

Amazon is bringing back its popular Second Chance Deal Days, giving UK shoppers the chance to save up to 50% on returned, used and refurbished products.

Amazon is bringing back a major sale aimed at shoppers happy to buy second-hand, returned and refurbished goods, with discounts of up to 50%.

The 10-day Second Chance Deal Days event will run from Tuesday, September 1 to Thursday, September 10, with thousands of products available across technology, gaming, fitness, beauty, toys and home appliances.

But unlike a typical Amazon sale, shoppers should not expect everything to arrive brand new.

The products can include items that have previously been returned, opened or used, as well as professionally refurbished goods.

Amazon says returned products are inspected before being offered for sale again.

Items that meet its standards can be tested, cleaned and repaired where necessary, with the price reflecting the product’s condition.

Brands featured include Apple, Google, Samsung, LEGO, Ninja, PlayStation and Xbox.

Shoppers can find the deals through Amazon’s Second Chance section or look for the “Save with Used” option on eligible product pages.

What does ‘second-hand’ actually mean?

There are two main categories shoppers will see.

Amazon Resale covers returned, used and open-box products, which are given one of four condition ratings.

Amazon says any missing parts should be detailed in the individual product listing, so shoppers should read the description carefully before buying.

What is Amazon Renewed?

Amazon Renewed is for products that have been professionally refurbished by Amazon or an approved selling partner.

The process can include diagnostic testing, cleaning and replacing faulty parts.

Renewed products are graded Premium, Excellent, Good or Acceptable and are covered by the Amazon Renewed Guarantee.

Second-hand purchases can also be returned under Amazon’s usual returns policy if customers are unhappy with their purchase.

How much can shoppers save?

Discounts during Second Chance Deal Days will reach up to 50% off the recommended retail price of the equivalent new item.

However, the actual saving will depend on the product and its condition.

For the first time, pre-owned bags and accessories from Amazon Luxury seller Luxclusif will also feature, with an additional 15% discount during the event.

Amazon currently lists more than 30 million second-hand products in the UK, with tens of thousands selected for the September promotion.

The event is returning for its second year, after launching in the UK in 2025.
