A day of outdoor learning and family fun brought more than 100 people together to explore and celebrate the Malvern Hills.
The event, held by the Malvern Hills Trust on August 5, 2026, was designed to give residents a deeper understanding of how the trust manages and protects the iconic landscape.
Staff, trustees, volunteers, and members of the community enjoyed hands-on activities, demonstrations, and guided exploration throughout the day.
Marie Dipple, community and conservation officer at the Malvern Hills Trust, said: “We were delighted to welcome so many people to this year’s Discovery event.
“It was fantastic to see so many families taking part.
“Events like this help people understand the wide range of work involved in caring for the Malvern Hills and Commons, while inspiring the next generation to value and protect these special places.
“We are particularly proud of our new Junior Rangers, who showed great enthusiasm throughout the day.”
Visitors had the opportunity to meet the teams responsible for managing the landscape, protecting wildlife, and maintaining public access to this nationally significant area.
The day began with a visit from RHS National judges at Link Common as part of the town’s ongoing participation in the Britain in Bloom campaign.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Malvern, Councillor Iain Dawson.
A highlight of the day was the launch of the Trust’s new Junior Ranger initiative.
Children completed a range of activities designed to help them understand how to care for the landscape and, with their ‘passport’, collecting stamps at each station, received a Junior Ranger badge when they had taken part in all the activities.
The programme encourages young people to become ambassadors for the Malvern Hills among their friends and families.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the educational value of the event and the importance of the trust’s work.
The trust extended its thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success.
