Person dies on Worcestershire railway tracks

A PERSON has died on a railway line in Worcestershire.

Emergency services have confirmed a person was found dead this morning (May 18) on a railway line between Droitwich and Kidderminster.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “We were called to an area of the line in Kidderminster at around 5.20am this morning (May 18) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

West Midlands Railway confirmed the line has since reopened and services has resumed to normal following several train cancellations.

Some residual delays are still to be expected.
