Hundreds expected at charity fun run this weekend

Hundreds are expected at the Wythall and Hollywood Fun Run which returns this weekend offering a full family day out.

To put more fun into the run this year, runners are encouraged to come in fancy dress with a prize for the best outfit.

Those looking to try something new can take part in free taster sessions with Wythall Tennis Club, Redhill Archers and Wythall Community Association Bowling.

Younger visitors can enjoy a bouncy castle, while a range of local organisations will be on hand to showcase their work.

Community First Responders will be demonstrating how they support people in emergency situations, bringing along one of their 4×4 response vehicles. They will also be inviting people to learn CPR.

The Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) will be attending with one of their boats, offering insight into their vital search and rescue work. Local police will also be present on the day.

When hunger strikes post-race, there’s a variety of food and drinks stalls to enjoy. Food and drink options include a BBQ from Tidbury Green Scouts, cakes from Pearls of Wythall, pizza from Slice & Easy, and much more.

The licensed bar at Wythall Park will also be open.

Last year over 750 people ran either a 5K, 10K or Families on Track race.

This year both the 5k and 10k runs will start at 10am on Sunday, June 7 with Tri Wellness providing pre- and post-race treatments.

Acorns Children’s Hospice is the official charity partner for the race, David Lloyd Solihull Cranmore and Bromsgrove is the main sponsor, and the event is supported by Worcestershire County Council’s Public Health team.
