A MAJOR road closure in Worcestershire has started a day late due to “inadequate signage”.
The A4103 in Leigh Sinton had been due to close for 33 days, starting on Monday, July 20, but it did not come into force as scheduled.
The closure is to allow for drainage works related to a new housing development in the area.
An official diversion will take drivers on an hour-long detour via Cradley, Bromyard, Broadwas and Rushwick.
Councillor Chris McSweeny, who represents the area on Worcestershire County Council, announced on Monday morning that the road closure had been postponed.
“Closure of the A4103 at Leigh Sinton has been postponed by a day due to inadequate signage,” he said. “Closure now expected to start tomorrow.”

Why was the A4103 closure delayed?
Worcestershire County Council has now confirmed that the delay was due to problems specifically with signage for the HGV diversion route.
“Unfortunately the planned road closure has been delayed by one day as the traffic management company acting on behalf of the developer did not correctly implement the HGV diversion route,” a spokesperson said.
“Before a major route such as this can be closed, all required diversion routes must be fully in place.
“As this requirement had not been met, the closure has been postponed to ensure the appropriate traffic management measures are implemented.”
The closure is now expected to be implemented on Tuesday, July 21, with the scheduled completion date still being advertised as Friday, August 21.
